The MCP server can now send files, with a new send_whatsapp_file tool.
MCP: send a file from an AI assistant
New. The MCP server has a sixth tool,
send_whatsapp_file. An assistant can send a document, image, audio or video
(up to 5 MB, with an optional caption) from one of the authorized numbers, the
same way send_whatsapp_message sends text.
Give the file as a direct https link in url, or as base64 in data with its
mimetype. A link is preferred: WASync downloads it, and links that point at
private networks, at WASync itself or at a web page rather than a file are
refused. Like the text tool, it needs the send permission and the assistant is
told to confirm the recipient and the file first, because a delivered file
cannot be recalled.
Nothing changes for existing integrations: send_whatsapp_message and the
other four tools are untouched, and the REST POST /messages media send keeps
its larger limit.
